Processing notes

Processing notes and disclaimer for vehicle films

Our films are designed not to damage original vehicle paint that has been applied to a professional standard, is intact and has fully cured. To achieve the best result and to avoid damage to the vehicle or the material, the following processing and safety instructions must be observed.

1. Requirements for the painted surface

  • Paint condition: The surface to be covered must be completely intact and free from damage such as scratches, dents, scuffs, chips, stone chips or rusting areas.
  • New paint & repair paint: Repainted vehicle parts must have dried or fully cured for at least three weeks (21 days) before the film is applied. If parts are repainted, the old paint layer must first have been removed professionally and completely.
  • Special paints & painted carbon surfaces: Particular care is required on vehicles with special paint finishes (e.g. matte paints, special effect paints) and on painted carbon surfaces, as these surfaces may react more sensitively to adhesives or tensile stress.
  • Duty to check & test application: If there is any doubt about the quality, adhesion or degree of curing of the paint, consult the vehicle manufacturer or a specialist workshop beforehand. To check for yourself, we recommend a short test application with a small piece of leftover film in an inconspicuous spot before installation.

2. Cleaning & preparing the surface

  • Thorough cleaning: Before installation, the surface must be cleaned thoroughly and be completely free of dust, grease, oil, preservative wax, polishes or other contaminants.
  • Nano & ceramic coatings: Applying the film to surfaces with nano or ceramic coatings is not recommended, as these greatly reduce the adhesive strength of the material. Application on such surfaces is at your own risk.
  • Solvent residues: Any solvent residues from previous cleaning steps must have evaporated completely before the film is applied, to avoid bubbles or impaired adhesion.

3. Removing the film

  • Temperature: The applied film should only be removed at a surface and ambient temperature of at least +20 °C.
  • Applying heat: We strongly recommend warming the film evenly with a heat gun while peeling it off. This applies in particular to painted carbon surfaces and all types of special paint finishes, as these react more sensitively to tensile stress.
  • Peeling technique: Carefully lift one corner and slowly pull the film back flat at a 180° angle. Jerky or steep pulling can damage the paint. Warming the film at the same time makes this much easier.

4. Disclaimer

Following these processing notes is a prerequisite for the proper use of our products.

No liability whatsoever is accepted for damage to vehicle paint, carbon components, clear coat detachment, material damage or consequential damage caused by:

  • failure to observe these processing notes,
  • insufficient pre-cleaning,
  • application on repainted, damaged or not fully cured paint, or on sensitive special paint finishes/carbon parts,
  • application on sealed surfaces (e.g. nano or ceramic coatings),
  • failure to carry out checks or compatibility tests, and
  • improper installation or removal.

The film is applied at the user’s own risk.
